Dr Allan Fong graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1999. He was awarded the 1997/8 Gold Medal & Book Prize in Ophthalmology by National University of Singapore (NUS) & Singapore Society of Ophthalmology (SSO). He obtained his MRCOphth (Lond) and MRCSEd in 2004, Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) from NUS, MMED (Ophth), in 2005, and FRCSEd in 2009. He completed Refractive Surgery and Cornea Fellowship at the Singapore National Eye Centre.
Dr Fong has particular interest in Cataract Surgery, Refractive Surgery (LASIK), Pterygium Surgery, Cornea infections and Dry Eyes.
Dr Fong is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS), Asia Pacific Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (APACRS), International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS), American Association of Ophthalmology (AAO), Singapore Society of Ophthalmology (SSO), Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), Asia Cornea Society (ACS), Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK, London), the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (UK, Edinburgh), and the Singapore Medical Association (SMA).
Dr Fong is a Clinical Physician Faculty Member, SingHealth Ophthalmology Residency Program. He actively involved in undergraduate ophthalmology education and holds an appointment as Clinical Tutor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS.
He is an Adjunct Clinical Research Fellow at the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI). He is also in-charge of a voluntary community eye screening project, Project I-Care.
