Dr Wang Jenn Chyuan graduated from the Queen’s University, Belfast in 1996, winning several awards and scholarships in the process which included the Sir John Henry Biggart prize for Ophthalmology. He returned to Singapore to enrol successfully in the highly competitive ophthalmic training-ship in 1999.

He completed his comprehensive ophthalmology training with titles of MRCSEd, MMed ( Singapore ), FRCS (Ophthalmology) and FAMS. He underwent further specialisation in the field of Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery with a fellowship in The Eye Institute in 2005. This was followed by a highly sort-after anterior segment fellowship in the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital , London in 2006 where he mastered the art of DSEK and DALK.

Dr Wang returned as consultant in corneal service, NUH, in 2007 and was made Head of Corneal Service in National University Hospital in 2009. He was an advanced specialist trainer for cataract surgery, anterior segment surgery and clinical teacher for Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He founded Nobel Eye and Vision Centre as medical director in 2009. He left to join Singapore National Eye Centre in 2010 to engage heavily in cataract and refractive surgery.

Dr Wang has numerous publications in both internationally renowned books and journals, covering a range of ophthalmic subjects. He also co-authored a book chapter on modern glaucoma tube implants in Asia . He has refereed papers for international and local peer-reviewed journals.

In the last few years, he has led teaching teams to Yangon Eye Hospital in Myanmar and charity cataract surgery to Praeh Auhn Dung Hospital , Phnom Penh , in collaboration with Rotary club.

Dr Wang is a member of the Moorfields Alumni, European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, as well as American Academy of Ophthalmology.

His current interest is in advanced cataract, refractive surgery and general ophthalmology.
